Introduction
What is the set window?

The set window is a system of modular construction which allows the instalation of the roll up shutter directly on top of the window, having in essence two products in one.
It provides security against vandalism, privacy, thermal and acoustic insulation, and protection against strong winds and hurricanes.
What are its technical characteristics?

The set window system allows for the use of various combinations. Housing options:

PVC HOUSING (MONOBLOCK SYSTEM)

Height of housing: 150 mm (6''), 180 mm (7'') and 200 mm (8'').

Possible combinations:

  • Two extruded aluminum profiles and two PVC profiles.
  • One extruded aluminium profiles and three PVC profiles

The monoblock system consists of four parts, allowing you to combine aluminium profiles with PVC profiles, therefore optimizing the different advantages that each material offers.

Our PVC housings are double walled forming a barrier that creates a thermal and acoustic insulation. Being that Hermex works the chemical formulas from start to finish, we are able to offer a large variety of colors, to match with the inside and outside aesthetics.

ALUMINIUM HOUSING (DELTA-BLOCK SYSTEM)

Housing height: 165 mm (6,5''), 180 mm (7'') and 205 mm (8'').

The system is the same as the PVC double walled system, only it uses profiled aluminium. The profiled aluminium gives you and array of colors including woods (dark and light), and furthermore, it is not affected in the least by the elements and contaminants.

 
Slats
The slats of our set window system are specially designed to occupy the least possible space when rolled up(optimal rolling diameter) and in the case of extruded aluminium, to withhold wind and impact forces that are generated by hurricanes.
Slats can be PVC, foamfilled aluminium or extruded aluminium, and are available in 40 mm, 50 mm or 55 mm.
Opening mechanisms
All the set window can be motorized and controlled either from a switch or a remote control (which may control one window oe all of the at the same time). A more economical system is available, as in the case of the crank handle, recoil box and the cord crank.

Folding system (model 40)

  • Opens up to 100% of space

  • Aluminium alloy = 6063-T5
  • Coated finish with a 60-90 micras thickness and qualicoat seal
  • Anodised finish 15 micras, with EWA/EURAS seal

Oscillating system (model 40)

  • Opens up to 35% of space
  • Direct installation of glass without jonquil
  • Aluminium alloy=6063-T5
  • Coated finish with a 60-90 micras thickness and qualicoat seal
  • Anodised finish 15 micras, with EWA/EURAS seal
What advantages does the Set Window offer?

Being that the set window is an all in one system, it offers many advantages, specially were new construction is concerned. These advantages are:

  1. Reduces labor and its cost. Unlike other systems which require installation of each product separately (i.e. window frame, pane, then the roll up and finally the screen), when you install a set window, you install all these products at one time, in the same day and with the same work crew. By doing this, you are able to reduce your labor cost considerably and the expense of moving or changing crews.
  2. Reduces buying cost. By installing everything at once, with one product, you will only be dealing with one supplier instead of many different ones. Also, work can be completed at once without scheduling stops due to a delay by oen of the suppliers or work crews. You no longer need to wait for one to finish for another to start.
  3. Warranty. Your warranty is provided by one company, not different ones.
  4. Reduction of errors. Being that many products are incorporated into one, the possibility for errors are reduced. The measurements will be taken for one product, at one time, and of only the inside dimension of the opening. This will allow you to reduce errors and in turn saving you money.
  5. Aesthetics. The set window has very smooth lines, is neat and clean, it does not take away from the aesthetic value of the building.

The housing design allows an easy access to the inside of the roll up.

What improvements has Hermex made to improve the product?

  • Stainless-steel accesories. For areas where saline is a problem, Hermex provides stainless steel accesories to prevent oxidation which is so often a problem for construction in coastal areas.
  • Housing cover. For those clients who wish to hide the housing, Hermex has created an extruded aluminium cover that resembles the slat, whereas the housing appears to be an extension of the slats. Aside from its aesthetic value this cover allows for an easy and secure anchorage for the housing.
  • Special track system. The set window system was designed for hurricane prone areas, so not only have we widenend the track to 66 mm, but we also incorporated them into the window frame giving them extra strength it withstanding hurricane forces.
  • Screen. The design of our system allows for the screen to be mounted in both vertical and horizontal position.
